Veterinary Telehealth or Telemedicine Appointments - video conference consult

Telemedicine - home video conference appointment with our veterinarian

We are now offering telemedicine appointments (video conferencing or audiovisual consultation exams with our veterinarian) as an option to provide safe and convenient access to our pet health care services.

Types of appointments suitable for telemedicine:

Only cases with existing veterinarian-client-patient relationship qualify for telemedicine appointments. Some appointments may not be suitable for telemedicine and additional in person appointments may become necessary for complicated cases. Telemedicine appointments may not be enough to fully diagnose your pet's ailments. By paying for this service, you acknowledge that telemedicine does have its limitations due to lack of physical contact with your pet and the inability to perform diagnostic testing.

  • Skin Issues (bumps, rashes, missing fur, redness etc)
  • Allergies (itching/scratching or self biting)
  • External ailments such as cuts, bruises, swelling
  • Behavioral Issues
  • Nutritional or dietary Issues
  • Arthritis and Pain
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Lack of eating
  • Excessive eating
  • Post-surgery site with external surgery site and internal sutures only

Veterinary Hybrid Telemedicine:

Veterinary Hybrid Telemedicine appointments are also available. This combines patient drop-off with client video conferencing. This is a more effective form of telemedicine because the veterinarian can offer the full range of veterinary care because the pet is at the hospital as oppose to being at home. Person-to-person (client-to-staff)contact in a closed space such as an exam room is also avoided, which is good to stop the spread of diseases such as the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The Steps for telemedicine appointments:

  • Owner will schedule a telemedicine appointment by phone with our receptionist
  • Telemedicine appointments must be paid by credit card over the phone in order to schedule the appointment
  • Credit card may be kept on file to process any additional fees
  • Owner will be sent an invitation to download and join a video conferencing session using a Smartphone app.
  • The session time is pre-determined and will be limited as such in order to make time for other patients.
  • During the session, clients can ask questions, explain their concerns, and use visual methods to identify or show their pet's issues.
  • Our Veterinarians can provide answers to your questions, use visual cues, and medical history to diagnose your pet's ailments. However, please note that not being able to perform a physical exam limits your doctors ability to comprehensively diagnose your pet
  • After the doctor makes an assessment, she will either prescribe medication, prescription diets, supplements, or recommend another course of action, which may or may not include a need to come into the office for further diagnostics.
  • Any prescribed medications can be paid for by credit card over the phone
  • A staff member can then bring your medication to your car if you call from the parking lot.
  • To reduce waiting time in the parking lot, please let us know ahead of time that you are on your way.
  • Please note that the doctor's time is valuable and missed appointment slots are nonrefundable and cannot be rescheduled without an additional fee.
